Specialised in with men | Gender | Sexuality | Relationships | Anxiety | Work/Life balance
I work with individuals, couples and groups in an active, supportive and professional manner. My approach is based on existential philosophy which informs my specific work with you. This means your values, your choices and your beliefs take centre stage and underpin our work together. We will aim to explore and understand what is happening in your world and the values and beliefs that shape your life, behaviours and choices. This often results in the possibility of change and an enhanced state of well-being.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Time and space to explore in a supportive, confidential and professional space. I will listen, be along side you and offer, where appropriate, expertise. I don’t give advice or choose a particular direction for you, instead we explore what’s happening in your life together, as a team.
COUPLES / RELATIONSHIP THERAPY
Being in-the-world with others isn’t always easy. I have experience of working with same-sex, heterosexual and asexual couples and triads. Irrespective of the composition of your relationship, I offer a safe-space to explore what is happening in your relationship. In addition, my doctoral research explored the experience of straight men in couples therapy.
GROUP WORK
Similar to traditional family therapy, group work enables multiple parties to examine what is happening between them. This work is as useful for business and commercial relationships as it is personal.
SUPERVISION
I offer existential supervision to other therapists, both those in-training and those who are qualified. Supervision is a safe space where the therapist can let their feelings and thoughts roam free, where unformed hunches can be spoken about and explored. It is also a place of nurture, support and comfort for the therapist.
GENDER & SEXUALITY WORKSHOPS/TRAINING
Gender and sexuality diversity training offers insights into human sexuality and gender identity. As well as covering identities that are not the majority such as trans, gender-queer, asexual, gay, bisexual and furry, this training also examines cisgender, heterosexual identities and presentations. The training can also include sexual health and negotiating intimacy.
RESEARCH
I have a research interest in all aspects of gender and sexuality, particularly gender-roles, male heterosexuality, asexuality and relationships.
